DCP seeks to bear witness to the just and compassionate reign of Jesus Christ by joining and serving the vulnerable of San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
Joining and serving the vulnerable in our community
The mission of Dayspring Community Partners, Inc. is to embody and bear witness to the redeeming work of God revealed in Jesus Christ, seeking justice for the vulnerable of San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, through local community and economic development.
Together with key partners Redeemer Community Church, Dayspring Partners, and Rise University Preparatory, DCP seeks to develop collaborations between for-profit, community-based and faith-based organizations for the common good.
Initiatives
DCP calls Bayview Hunters Point home. We are rooted here, and we seek the flourishing of our neighborhood and city. To that end we have initiatives for local community development.
Local Community Development
Neighbor Fund is a community-based, community-vetted, small business revolving loan fund. In partnership with Redeemer Community Church we provide loans to small businesses based in the Bayview.
DCP partners with Hanami, in its work with a community fund for women, low-income or minority business owners; and asset preservation info for low-income or minority homeowners.
History
DCP was formed in 1996 as a supporting organization for Grace Fellowship Community Church (GFCC). At that time our name was Grace Urban Ministries, Inc. (GUM). A key partnership formed between Dayspring, GFCC, and GUM around local economic development and ministry with youth from underserved neighborhoods. Together we ran a ministry called PrYSM (Preparing Youth to Serve in the Marketplace), where youth learned job readiness and were placed in internships. Dayspring was a regular internship site for PrYSM. In addition it began hiring youth on a part-time basis, provided on-the-job training, and was a place to explore careers in tech and media.
GUM has a rich history of faithfully serving the vulnerable in the San Francisco Bay Area with particular emphases on families, tutoring, health fairs, and immigration advocacy. Over the course of the last two decades, Dayspring also continued its good work, moving its offices to Bayview Hunters Point, and seeking the common good of the neighborhood with special emphases on economic development and education.
In 2017 we changed our name to Dayspring Community Partners, Inc. when GFCC released formal ties to our entity in the restructuring of their ministry. Our mission to embody God’s redeeming work and to bear witness to the just and compassionate reign of Jesus Christ continues.
